We were hoping to book our annual bowling trip before Christmas (we missed it last year) but due to changes in booking policies we won't be able to arrange it in time. We are proposing to go in the New Year on 17th January. We will have a list at KSBC so you can add your names if you would like to come. We will have to ask that you pay in advance. The price will be £4 per person, club will cover any additional cost and get chips for all lanes. The list will be open for 3 weeks so until the 20th December so that it can be booked in time. Payment will be non refundable unless we can't get booked for the date above.

Hi all Club will not run on 27th December. There will be a ride or two over the festive period, more details will be posted in due course.

Upcoming Events

Hi All.

Our own EBCC Cyclo-Cross Championship will be based on the results of  the Bradford National Trophy Event at Peel Park. We want as many of our EBCC riders to take part as possible to really show off our great club at a local major event!

Riders who will be under 12 this year (born 2003 or later) don't have to pre-enter and their race will be near the BMX track at peel Park starting at 12.45 for the Under 8's, then the Under 10's and finally the Under 12's. These are short races and will cost £2 per rider. There will be a sweetie bag for everyone who takes part.
For riders born in 2002 and earlier, the race is pre-enter only with entries closing on Tuesday 2nd december and this will be on the full course around the park.

Thank you & good luck Caitlin from everyone at EBCC & KSBC

Caitlin was just 6 when she joined EBCC at our kids Saturday bike club. Many of our longer serving volunteers have watched her grow and prosper into a lovely young lady. Caitlin joined our team of volunteers as a young volunteer, she later did the level 1 British cycling coaching award and started coaching the young children herself. We all really appreciate the time, help and commitment that you have given to EBCC & KSBC. Good luck at university!

Youth Hostel Trip 31Oct to 2 Nov

Jim and Brenda are again organising the yearly Autumn Youth Hostel trip to Osmotherley in North Yorkshire. This hostel is an independant hostel but still under the "YHA" organisation.
It is about 65 miles from Bradford, some members cycle all the way via Shipley, Otley, Pool, Knaresborough,(cafe stop), Boroughbridge (loo stop), Thirsk (late lunch stop) to Osmotherley. Some members join part way, leaving their car en route.
31 October -We set off on Friday morning, cycle there, steadily over the day to arrive at tea time.
1 November - Saturday there is a ride from the Hostel along the lanes to Great Ayton and Stokesley, usually about 20 to 30 miles depending on weather etc.
2 November - Sunday  - after a hearty breakfast at the Hostel, we set off back (on a slightly different route) to Boroughbridge and beyond (to home).

Anyone is welcome to come along, singles, couples, families. Ride as much as you like - walk, swim, shop on the Saturday if you like. Bring the car or not, let someone with a car bring your luggage! Be a dedicated tourer and dig out some panniers. You can pay for breakfast and/or evening meal or you can self cater.
Experienced teenage riders? why not plan a trip away and meet us up there!

Help is needed for 2nd August

On Saturday 2nd August Amelia and Matt will not be at club.  Amelia is at club every week setting up the signing on table, giving our the bibs.  At break time Amelia then runs the drinks and snacks.
As we have not got Matt as well I am appealing for any parent who would like to help with the drinks at break time.  Every item is 30p so it will just be distributing the drinks and taking money.  I can do the signing on and give bibs out but help may be needed with Mike on the pitches.  any help is very welcome to ensure that club runs smoothly.  If you think you can help in anyway please speak to me or you can email me joanneward963@btinternet.com.

thank you for reading Joanne

East Bradford on Tour

On 19 July EBCC held there Go Ride Tour Event.  After a week of sunshine we woke to the rain.  We didn't have a back up for if it rained.
46 children turned up to take part in the event.  We had a bit of rain but it didn't stop any of the events.
Each child took part in the events in ages U6, U8, U10, U12 and O12s.
How fast can you spin for 250m.  The top 3 in each age category won a medal.
Cycle Speedway - the winner in each heat won the white jersey.
The timed climb - the winner in each heat won the king of the mountain spotty tshirt.
The obstacle course saw the winner win the yellow jersey.
The timed sprint each winner claimed the green jersey
and just for fun - decorate a biscuit.  Some excellent designs with icing, M&M's (think they ate more of these).  The winner Aaron Ward won a bottle.

The children ended the day with the prize presentation and each child was a winner with rossettes, wrist bands, sweets and the jerseys.  Despite the rain it was a very enjoyable day.

A huge thank you to all the coaches who helped run the event, all the volunteers who helped set up and put away and a big thank you to all the kids for taking part.

BSCA Grass Track Competition - instead of club

As club is cancelled so we can attend this event, we would like as many EBCC Children as possible to take part - it's the last few days to enter this competition to be held on the 28th June 2014 in Leeds and you have to enter in advance.

The West Riding track league is again hosting the British Schools Cycling Association National Grass Track Competition for school children with separate events for Under 7,8,11,13,15 and over 15 age, boys and girls. It is a great event to be held on Saturday 28th June 2014 here at Roundhay Park, the week before Le Tour De France. There are medals for the top three girls and top three boys in each age category with national titles to the winners.

It is in the form of an omnium competition with three scoring events to decide the winner.

Kids born on or before the 31st August 2000 are on fixed wheel bikes, born on the 1st September 2000 and later, are on freewheel bikes so slightly different from track league.

The event is pre-entry only and you will need to fill in the entry form and return it to Mandy or at signing on by the closing date or bring it to track league on Monday 16th June. Ring me if you have any problems. The number is on the form or e-mail me to : mandyparker2@ntlworld.com

Racing at Richard Dunn 21st May and Mountain Bike racing at Pensitone Counrty park, Howarth Sunday 25th May

Circuit race at Richard Dunn

Tonight the White Rose Youth league is again running circuit racing for Under8/10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16. Races start at 7 and signing on will start approx 6 pm. The usual BC gear restrictions will apply.

Mountain Bike Competition

The Yorkshire MTB competition is this Sunday 25th May at Penistone Hill Country Park near Howarth.

We need volunteers to help marshal the event and to help with signing on, particularly for the older races so if you can help, we would really appreciate it as without more help, these events won't run. They are all run by volunteers for the benefit of the children so the more helpers, the easier it is for those who put the events on.

Attached are the list of pre-entries, if you have entered but don't see your name, please let Mandy know. You can enter on the day but signing on closes 30 minutes before each race.

Also attached is the information leaflet.

Again Howarth West End Cricket Club are providing the best hot and cold food and drinks as well as buns etc. for which we are very grateful so please support them because I will!.

Accommodation for the Tour De France

The local cricket club is offering camping to members of EBCC for a maximum of 30 tents on the Saturday night at their cricket grounds on the Saturday night at Penistone Hill, near Howarth where we run the MTB BSCA race as the Tour is passing along the road at the bottom of the entrance road. The coast is £10 per tent.  They will also put a BBQ on the Saturday for which there will be a small cost. You can also bike across the moor to view the race on one of the big climbs just outside of Howarth or to the Howarth Hub.This is one of the most scenic of places to be.

Great turnout for EBCC topped off with a Southby win

A grest show of EBCC young riders with 18 taking part at the first Round of the White Rose Youth League was topped off by George Southby taking the win in the Under 12s. Ten of our riders comprised of over half the field in the Under 22s. A record I think for EBCC.

Euan Wins the First of the National Under 14 Road Series at Hetton in the final Sprint.

Euan on the Podium again at Hetton in the first of what is hoped to be another great season !

Our other riders also did amazingly well with George Fox coming a hard fought 7th in the Youth Nutcracker race at Gandale and Joe Parker 14th. This was an amazing achievement for George as it was a tough field and all the rest of the riders were on expensive  bikes while George rode on the most basic of MT Bikes, incredibly heavy and with limited gears.

Success for our younger riders in the Sweat Monsters event, with 1st Girl for Amber Hull and Olivia Fox, 2nd for Finlay and Jack Ackroyd and 8th place for both Harry Fox and Milo Hull in their respective races.

BSCA Yorkshire Roller Championship Results

Last Saturday saw another successful Roller Championship with lots of exciting races from all the riders.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped on the day, we can't run it without all your help.

Here are the results with another great showing from EBCC.
